Guitar speed test

Find the BPM where your picking falls apart.

The click ramps. Your mic listens to every attack and lines it up against the grid. When too many notes stop landing, the test stops and hands you a number.

Setup. Nothing is recording yet.

Subdivision

Notes per click. Pick what you actually practise.

Instrument

Stored with the result so percentiles compare like for like.

Start tempo
80BPM

Somewhere you are comfortable. The ramp does the rest.

You need a guitar or bass, a microphone, headphones, and about 60 seconds.

Wear headphones. On speakers the mic hears the click and scores it as you.

Audio is analysed in this tab and never uploaded. Only the final numbers are saved.

What it measures

Your clean-attack ceiling: the fastest tempo where you still put a note on every subdivision, on time. It reads transients, not pitch, so a wrong note still counts as long as it lands.

What you need

  • A guitar or bass, acoustic or plugged in.
  • The mic on your phone or laptop.
  • Headphones, so the mic hears you and not the click.
  • About 60 seconds.
