Crank. 2.0 — Practice Sessions, Ranks, Goals, and 8 Languages
Crank. 1.0 answered one question: are you actually getting faster? You added a fragment, logged your BPM, and watched the chart. That core loop is still the heart of the app — but practice is more than one lick at a time.
Crank. 2.0 is about the session around the fragment: how you structure an evening of practice, how you stay consistent for months, and how you see the long arc of your playing. Here is everything that shipped.
Practice Sessions — a workout plan for your instrument
Queue up the fragments you want to work on, hit start, and run them back to back in one guided flow. Each fragment gets its own timer and BPM logging, and the session ends with a summary you can actually learn from — total time, per-fragment gains, and a share card if you want to post the win.
After each fragment you rate how it felt. Numbers tell you what happened; the self-review tells you why. Together they tell you whether tomorrow is a push day or a consolidation day — the same way athletes periodize training.
The rank ladder — ten ranks, months of climbing
Every logged practice hour now feeds a level system with ten ranks, Bronze through Mythic. It is deliberately slow: ranking up takes real accumulated practice, not streaks of app-opening. Think of it as a long-term progress bar for your musicianship.
- Levels rise with logged practice time — no shortcuts, no streak hacks.
- Each rank has sub-levels, so there is always a next step in reach.
- Rank-ups get celebrated properly. You earned it.
Goals, streaks, and stats that read like a training log
Set weekly practice goals and let the app nudge you toward them. The stats tab grew into a full training log: weekly reviews, personal records, highlights, per-instrument breakdowns, and the practice heatmap that shows your consistency at a glance.
The whole app in 8 languages
Crank. 2.0 ships fully localized in English, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Korean, German, Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese — every screen, every stat, every celebration. If you practise in one of these languages, the app now speaks yours.
Also in 2.0
- Improved tuner sensitivity for unplugged electric guitars.
- Smoother celebrations and rank-up feedback.
- Sharper session summaries with per-fragment breakdowns.
- Dozens of fixes from a full pre-release audit.
