This Privacy Policy describes how Craftsman Interactive ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use Crank, our mobile music practice and BPM tracking application (the "App") and our website (together, the "Services").

Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

Account information: When you create an account, we collect your email address to authenticate you and provide access to your data across devices.
Practice data: We store your practice sessions, including practice fragments, BPM logs, session duration, and related metadata you generate while using the App.
Device and usage data: The App enables first-party usage analytics by default to help us understand and improve the product. We may collect basic device and operating-system information, app version and environment, screens viewed, feature interactions, onboarding and subscription-funnel events, practice-session counts and durations, BPM and target BPM, notification opens, and share-flow outcomes. This data is pseudonymous and may be associated with an account identifier, but we do not send your email address, name, practice titles, notes, notification text, recordings, photos, or other practice content to our analytics service. You can turn App usage analytics off at any time in the App's Settings.
Website analytics: If you allow website analytics, we collect the page path and language, page type, App Store button placement, first use of the interactive metronome, 50% and 90% scroll milestones, basic browser and device information, and allowlisted campaign parameters such as UTM source, medium, and campaign. We record only the referring website's hostname and never send a full referring URL, full query string, form content, or email address through website analytics.
Crash and diagnostic data: We may collect crash reports, error traces, basic device and operating-system details, App version, and an opaque account identifier to diagnose failures and protect the reliability of the App. Crash reports are not used for advertising and do not include your email address, name, practice titles, notes, recordings, or photos.

Website Analytics Choices

Website analytics is disabled until you choose to allow it. Before consent, our Google Analytics script is not loaded and no analytics cookies are set by us. We use local storage to remember your analytics choice. If you allow analytics, we also store a restricted first-touch and session-touch attribution record so campaign performance can be measured without retaining full URLs. You can change your choice at any time using the Analytics Settings link in the website footer.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

Provide, maintain, and improve the App and its features
Sync your practice data across your devices
Process subscription purchases and manage your Pro account
Send push notifications related to practice reminders (if enabled)
Respond to support requests and communicate with you
Detect, prevent, and address technical issues or abuse
Measure onboarding, activation, retention, subscription, and marketing performance
Generate internal operational alerts and reports for important lifecycle events, such as a new account or verified subscription purchase

Third-Party Services

We use trusted third-party services to operate the App. These providers process data on our behalf and are bound by their own privacy policies:

Supabase — Authentication, database storage, and cloud sync for your account and practice data.
RevenueCat — Subscription management and in-app purchase processing for Crank Pro.
Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, and Firebase Crashlytics — Pseudonymous website and product-usage analytics, attribution, and conversion measurement when the relevant analytics collection is enabled, plus crash and diagnostic reporting used to detect and fix technical problems.
Google Cloud BigQuery and Looker Studio — Restricted internal storage, analysis, quality monitoring, reporting, and export of analytics and marketing data.
Resend — Delivery of restricted operational emails to the App operator. These messages use a pseudonymous user reference and an allowlisted event summary, not your email address, name, or practice content.
Discord — An optional secondary private operational-alert channel containing the same restricted event summary. Email remains the primary channel.
Expo Notifications — Delivery of push notifications for practice reminders and app updates (only if you opt in).

Data Retention

We retain your account and practice data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable timeframe, except where retention is required by law. Pseudonymous analytics and operational-delivery records are retained only for as long as reasonably needed for product analysis, security, troubleshooting, and reporting; aggregated or anonymized statistics may be retained longer because they no longer identify an individual.

Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data. You may also opt out of push notifications at any time through your device settings, control App usage analytics through the App's Settings, and control website analytics through Analytics Settings in the website footer. To exercise your rights or request deletion of analytics associated with your account identifier, contact us at the email below.

Children's Privacy

The Services are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us so we can delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy in the App or on our website. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
